Biography

Born in 1918 in New York City, Victor Seach received his artistic training at the National Academy of Design, where he honed his skills and developed a keen eye for abstraction. His early years were spent in the neighborhood of Harlem, but during World War II, he served in the Army in Europe. After the war, Seach briefly established a studio in Greenwich Village, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to the pursuit of painting abstraction. However, due to challenges in gaining recognition in the traditional gallery scene, he moved to Brussels, Belgium, in 1962 and lived there until his death in 1991. Seach worked and found support among fellow African American artists, Harold Cousins and Joan Aghib. Together, the three were known as the “Three Americans in Brussels.”
