Biography

Tyler Ballon is an artist working in Jersey City. Influenced by the iconography and artworks he was exposed to in Catholic School, Ballon often creates work with biblical narratives. The artist is a figurative painter known for his deeply personal and symbolic portrayals of Black life. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Ballon draws inspiration from religious iconography and the lived experiences of Black men and women in America. His work frequently merges sacred themes with contemporary issues; Ballon has been recognized for his ability to blend the classical techniques of oil painting with modern narratives, creating artworks that resonate with both personal and collective significance.
