Biography
Born in 1985, Kajahl paints fictionalized characters and scenes inspired by the ancient world. He earned his B.F.A. in painting from San Francisco State University, and his M.F.A in painting from Hunter College in New York City in 2012. In 2021, he was awarded the Rydell Visual Arts Fellowship in Santa Cruz, CA, and in 2019, he participated in the Lower Eastside Printshop Keyholder Residency in New York City. His artistic contributions have been further acknowledged through prestigious residencies, including the Joan Mitchell Center Artist in Residence in New Orleans, LA, and grants such as the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant in New York City.
Kajahl’s work has been featured in numerous domestic and international shows, including Monique Meloche Gallery in Chicago, IL; Richard Heller Gallery in Los Angeles, CA; the Lower Eastside Print Shop in New York City; and Coherent in Brussels, Belgium.
