Biography

Dupree was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1950. He received his BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design and his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Other course work included the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Dupree also held artist-in-residence positions at the Contemporary Arts Center in Massachusetts, the African American Museum in Philadelphia; the National Museum of Wales, the Brandywine Graphics Studio in Philadelphia; and the Studio Museumin Harlem. In 2005 Dupree purchased an abandoned warehouse that he transformed into Dupree Studios, a living, teaching, and studio space in the Mantua community of West Philadelphia.
