Biography
Anthony Smith Jr. received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Amherst College in 1999 and an M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Michigan in 2001. From 2006 to 2008, Smith served as an artist-in-residence at the National Academy of Design, and in 2016 was an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and his work has been reviewed The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Detroit Free Press, The Ann Arbor News, and Artist’s Magazine. Smith is also an educator and has taught art at the University of Michigan, Parsons, Princeton University, the Maryland Institute College of Art, Lehigh University, and Muhlenberg College. He currently works from his studio in Bethlehem, PA.
