Biography

Angela Pilgrim was born in Paterson, NJ in 1991. She is a self-taught artist and Founder of Fruishun. Her work falls within the realms of textiles and illustration, and she fuses her childhood influences with rooted African American pop culture and traditions. Heavily influenced by her 1990’s upbringing, the work touches the subject of African American female beauty through the use of pastel colors, patterns and mixed media. Although belonging to a digital generation, she enjoys the idea of the lost art of handmade work. She is currently based in Newark, NJ.
