Biography

Alvin E. Booth, a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, is a self-taught artist. His subject matter is the mind, the heart, and the soul. Alvin feels that art, like jazz, is best when improvised. While acrylic on canvas is his preferred medium, his ink drawings also beautifully capture the spectacular rhythmic, improvisational jazz sensibilities that Alvin brings to his art-making. Alvin’s work has been displayed in Southern California and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His recent showings include the Moja Arts Festival in Charleston, SC, the Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Pennsylvania, and various galleries in the Richmond, VA  area.
