Biography
Megan Lewis (b. 1989, Baltimore, MD) is a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in figurative painting, mural art, and furniture design. In 2011, Lewis earned her BFA in Illustration from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Currently living in Baltimore, Lewis is known for her bold figurative works that blend geometric patterns, rich textures, and vibrant colors. Lewis creates dynamic compositions that explore themes of identity, transformation, and self-discovery. Exploring themes of personal evolution, transformation, and understanding through both linear and imaginative scenes, Lewis’ works can be thought of as conversations on the social and historical portrayals of the Black body and particularly those inhabited by Black women. Her murals have made a significant impact on Baltimore’s cultural landscape, including commissions for Penn Metro Station, Orioles Park, and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. She has also collaborated with brands such as Doritos-Solid Black, Target, HBO Max, and the US Open.
