Biography
Garry Grant’s artistic journey, spanning over 30 years, is anchored in the vibrant cultural landscape of New York City. Grant challenges conventional perspectives and pushes the boundaries of artistic innovation through abstract compositions that draw from African aesthetics. His works serve as a deep exploration of the complexities of African history, interweaving stories often overlooked or silenced.
Grant is the recipient of the 2003 Award of Recognition from the World Trade Center Memorial Competition in New York City. Additionally, his work has been featured in the publication “Brooklyn On My Mind: Black Visual Artists from the WPS to the Present” by Dr. Myrah Brown Green. His work has also been featured in the group exhibitions, “Harlem Grown Creativity Art Initiative Sankofa Exhibition” at Marcus Garvey Park and “Detour: Summer” at Detour Gallery in New York City in 2023.
